I am a runner. Not a running fanatic, but I take my 20-minute Fast Pace runs seriously. I have always appreciated good comfortable running shoes, but never made too much of a big deal about feel, weight, etc… Until now…
Recently, my run, in shoes that are about two years old, left my feet quite sore over the following few days. Realizing how pitiful and embarassingly cheap I was being for not buying new shoes, I decided to try a few out. Specifically, I was looking for a shoe that I could buy for less than $70.00 that would make my runs a little more comfortable. You read the online reviews from Nike, Amazon and other shoe store sites and the reviews are relatively mixed. However, I came across the Nike Air Relentless now available for $49.99, read the reviews and decided this was a “tire” to try.
First impression- the shoe is stylish and lighter than a pair of old school crew socks… Because the shoe was so lightweight, I didn’t expect much in the cushioning department. However, I was shockingly surprised (enough at least to write this non-sponsored review) of the amount of cushioning the shoe provided. I tried on other shoes from Nike and other brands and none could compete with the lightweight feel and cushioning of this particular shoe. Even better, the Nike Relentless was half the price! Obviously, I bought these shoes without much hesitation.
As far as the run, I was not disappointed. To be honest, it felt like I was an Olympic athlete and these shoes were custom made for my feet. When I usually run, my legs fatigue (or hurt) before I am cardiovascularly fatigued or run out of breath. Running with these shoes really changed things up. For the first time in many years, my legs were moving too fast for my heart to keep up with. I completely attribute this change to the feel of the shoe. In fact, in a 20 minute run, I took 30 seconds off my one mile time…
